Gtechpro Data

  1. Gtech Pro Rr

Has anyone here used a gtech pro? It seems to be a pretty bad arse little peice of equipment. I wont do all the explaining. If your that interested you can look at the website. But long story short about this thing- it will tell you your actual 0-60 times, your hp, tq, 1/4 times, and shows and record levels of rpms, has shift lights, and shows G's your car is pulling. You can get one used off of ebay for like $90. Id really like one of those things assuming it works well.

Any thoughts? Ive got one and its fairly accurate.

I let a friend that drag races at the strip alot borrow it and he said it was within I think.5 seconds of what the track showed on the runs with normal street cars. He wanted to use it on his 1/8th miles s10 truck he races but the meter only works on 1/4 mile times. Also on alot of the older cars with gear changes they just wont run a 1/4 mile. I know that sounds crazy but what I mean is the car runs out of steam before 1/4 mile and just holds what it has till the end.

Has Anyone Used A G-Tech Pro Meter? Since I have a dyno sheet for that engine against which we could correlate the data from the G-Tech. What is the GTech/Pro? GTechPro is located in 1749 14th St, Santa Monica, California, USA. Check out GTechPro's profile for competitors, acquisition history, news and more.

Would be nice if it did 1/8th too. It works by measuring g forces best I can tell. Basically you pull x amount of g's for x amount of time and thats how it calculates everything.

I dont even use mine anymore its around here somewhere. Waste of money for myself. Mines the older one not the current model but they work the same Id guess. Nevermind I found it. 'We are particularly proud of our ability to gather RPM data right through the cigarette lighter which allows us to have Torque measurements along with Sequential Shift lights and RPM replays.

We are the first in the world to do this.' Smells like BS to me. The only thing that your going to detect from the cigar lighter socket is slight surges in voltage as the engine revs. No way could this be accurate. If it is using some sort of internal trickery to measure changes in G-Force then it begins to make sense.

But then it begs the question how does it accurately measure the 1/4 mile. I dunno mate, sounds legit to me.just cos i dont understand it doesn't make it BS.

And what exactly can you measure from a cigar lighter. It is an electrical socket so there are two options voltage and ampage. Do you remember those horrible cheap and tacky revcounters you could buy.

You had to attach them to the alternator so they were not actually measuring the revs of the car but giving an approximate answer based on voltage or ampage increase. For anything like this to be accurate it would have to be connected to the diagnositcs port. How Does The G-TECH Work? G-Tech/Pro Competition has three high-precision accelerometers that measure changes in speed. G-Tech/Pro Competition measures 1/4 mile time, by integrating acceleration. This is the same process used in Missile Guidance Systems and is known as inertial navigation.

So if you start from Zero and you know how much your speed is changing, then you know what your speed is after a given time period. When you start from zero and you track time and speed that gives you distance as well. To measure Horsepower you will need to input the weight of the vehicle and the G-Tech will do the rest.

A unique feature is G-Tech's ability to sense RPM's. RPM's are sensed through the cigarette lighter through a proprietary process so no installation is required. How Does The G-TECH Work? Measuring changes in acceleration will give you the speed and with an accurate internal clock this will give you distance. But the whole system falls flat on its face if it cannot measure the RPM's correctly.

If someone can explain exactly how they are doing this I would have to agree that it sounds good. Check this out, maybe this is how it - It all revolves around 'electrical noise' by the sound of it (no pun intended) OK Pirate you have convinced me. I would have to agree that this product would work and there is no BS involved. I just hate it when I hear or read phrases like We have invented this technology. No one in the world can pick-up RPMs from the cigarette lighter. With no indication of how it works. It begins to sound too much like the TV shopping adds or 'the turbinator'.

I have one and it's fairly accurate. You do have to set it up for the RPM, HP, Torque, shift light. It measures electrical noise for RPM. When I set it with the hvac fan off (how I race) its works great. If I turn the HVAC on it throws the RPM off.

Here is a comparison on mine G-Tech 1/4 mile time 13.8x @ 107.xx Track 1/4 mile time 14.0x @ 104.xx The track measures your speed by measuring your time across two beams and the GTech takes the speed at the end of the 1/4 mile distance so it will always be a little higher. As for the time difference I think that can be adjusted a little.

The GTech comes preset to have a 12' roll out before starting your timing. Hope that helps. Has anyone here used a gtech pro? It seems to be a pretty bad arse little peice of equipment.

Its easy to figure out whn to shift at the best power range!
